The Movie : Characters

Constable Ichabod Crane

Constable Ichabod Crane is a man of sense and reason, of cause and consequence, and so when he is sent to investigate murder in Sleepy Hollow, he can hardly believe that there is a horseman come back from the grave to claim the heads of the villagers. He is certain there is a person behind the murders, and informs the villagers he will find out who it is.
As a young boy, Ichabod lived very harsh moments that made him lose his faith, and as such now only believes in facts and science. He is certain the way to properly find culprits is through investigative and up-to-date techniques, and these are put to the test as he comes to Sleepy Hollow.
In Sleepy Hollow, he not only comes across something not of this world and without explanation, but with a beautiful young woman named Katrina, whom he begins to fall in love with. Ichabod must come to terms with himself, his beliefs, and his feelings before this tale unravels completely and reveals the true murderer and the true motives.

Katrina Anne Van Tassel

Katrina Van Tassel has lived in Sleepy Hollow for all of her life. She and her parents moved to a broken down cottage and were given an acre by the Van Garretts when they first moved there, and her father, Baltus Van Tassel, is now the highest member of society in Sleepy Hollow. Her mother passed away of illness, and now the nurse that cared for her is the lady of the house.
Katrina is a child of nature, a white witch, and performs magic taught to her by her mother. She first meets Ichabod while giving him a kiss on the cheek after a game, and he is breathtaken at the sight of her. They fall in love, but beliefs about spiritual myths and cause and consequence separate them, and in the end they both learn from each other, and Katrina is able to show Ichabod that he cannot always be sure of everything, and that there are greater things than sense and reason.
